Kindergarten Registration

Last Thursday I took Lukas to Kindergarten Registration. There were only 80 slots at the elementary school across the street from our neighborhood, so we had visions of arriving 2 hours early to get a great place in line. Our neighbors called the school office and was told that there was no need to arrive so early, so we aborted operation early-rise. Our neighbors came by our house on their way to register their daughter and we all walked to school together. We weren't the first people there, but there was a bit of a line. Before the natives could get too restless we were ushered into the library to sign up for an assessment time and be shuffled around to different desks to have our paperwork examined. Lukas has some things to work on between now and kindergarten, like tying his shoes, making sure he can button & zip whatever he's wearing, holding his pencil correctly (he's a lefty), and writing his name using caps and lower case letters (he can do it in all caps). They made him a name card and snapped his picture and sent him home with a backpack full of flashcards and other goodies to help him get ready for kindergarten.
