Friday I took Lukas to his first fair. I haven't been to the AR State Fair since high school (probably). It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Sure, there were lots of people, but nothing compared to what it would be at night.
After we parked we hopped on a trailer pulled by a tractor that was carting people from the parking lot to the main entrance. Lukas actually started crying. He loves tractors, and still he cried. I was pretty sure that was a good indication that he would NOT like riding the fair rides. He finally cheered up on the tractor wagon and did like riding the fair rides.
Today was a great day to take Lukas to his first fair - it was Coca Cola Kiddie Day. From 10am - Noon the little ones could ride the kiddie rides for free. Also, parents & kiddies got in the gate free. I was out 5 bucks for parking, the cash I dropped on fried foods, and the 5 dollar splurge of letting Lukas jump on a trampoline attached to a trapeze-type rig. I said no to the $12 in tickets it would have taken for the 2 of us to ride the ferris wheel.
I have pictures, but it's a miracle. My point & shoot camera has a sensor problem that I just discovered Thursday night while prepping for the fair trip. I pulled out the dSLR Friday morning to find my 2 rechargeable batteries were dead. I put in regular batteries and when I pulled the thing out at the fair, it said "low battery" and wouldn't take one picture. So, as a last resort, I pulled out the old iPhone and shot away. They look a lot better than they did while I was taking them, but they aren't great.
Next year we'll go at night & I'll make sure the dSLR has a full charge and a nice, fast lens.
