Poor Abby
Look what I did to my poor Abby girl tonight. I gave her Soft Claws from PixiePets. She's clawing up the hardwoods pretty bad, but it's not really her fault. Whatever whoever tried to seal our hardwoods with was a terrible choice. In some places it flakes off the floor and it's totally bare wood where our old sofa legs were sitting.
I had been putting one of these on and taking it off for a few days now and she didn't seem to like it. Tonight I started messing with her and she let me. So I grabbed the glue (super glue I think) and got them all on there. They've been on for over an hour and she still hasn't got off the bed & walked around. She's too sleepy.
***Update: Abby is up & walking around and seems to be fine with her new fashion accessories. She hasn't even tried to eat them yet.***
I also got her a sweet collar & leash from Collar Mania. The collar says "Deaf Girl" and the leash has "Abby" embroidered on it. I got to pick all the colors & fasteners & the font. I chose "Lumos" which is based on the font of the chapter headings in the Harry Potter books (I'm rereading the series & I'm on book 7 - I can't even remember what all happens so it's like reading a new book - and I can't wait for the #6 movie to come out in November in 3D IMAX!).
I've got some good pix of the collar, but they are tied up right now, but I'll add it to this post tomorrowish.

Big Boy Bed
Today Nanna & I set up Lukas' big boy bed. This is an antique iron bed that Nanna & I picked up in Hope, Arkansas around the time I was a senior in high school. It was very rusty and sat in the garage for quite a while. I went on a birthday trip the summer after graduation and when I got home, Ed had sandblasted the bed & painted it white for me. Then I made myself a little girl bedroom with Classic Pooh. Now Lukas is using the same Pooh sheets & comforter I had when I was a "little girl". Those linens and other Pooh stuff I already had were the reason I chose Classic Pooh as his nursery theme. Worked out great!
After we put it together, we took some pictures of Lukas trying it out and tucking Eyore in for a nap. This is the Eyore that Rich gave me for my birthday when I was pregnant with Lukas.

Tonight I read his books to him in bed, then we sang in bed instead of rocking, and he didn't even make a comment about being in the new bed. I didn't bring it up either! I was afraid he'd want to sleep in the crib, which is put together in the "nook" in the hall and it looks totally CRAZY slanting downhill. If you've seen the nook, you'll know what I mean.
We also hung all his stuffed animals on a ribbon hanging from the ceiling today. That helped clear out the changing table which we no longer need. Now, we just need to move out the rocking chair & figure out what to do with all the toys that were stowed under the crib. The new bed has a trundle underneath it, so no room for toys there.
It's 11:30pm and I just checked on the little guy - he's still got his head on the pillow & he's still covered up. Hope he wakes up in time to hit the potty in the morning!
